Over Easter...

For the uninformed, I've been going for cathecism over the past year or so. I finally got baptised as a Catholic last Saturday during Easter vigil. It was a vigil alright, all 3 and a half hours of it. 7 readings, gospel, homily followed by the baptism. Phew!

Here's me looking all prim and proper at home, ready to leave for church.

And here's the parish priest annoiting me with the chrism, making a sign of the cross on my forehead. I ended up with an oily forehead and stringy hair for the rest of the evening. Small price to pay cuz I'm happily baptised! Joy!

Caught in the act!

Caught red-handed flirting with other girls... tsk tsk very bad!!! ;)

Family.

Presenting (drum roll please) the Kwek clan, plus/minus a couple of members!

Hmm.. not sure why Aunt Irene isn't in the photo. She's usually the first in line during photo-taking. Well at least her daughter is up there, right besides Stephen.

Peek-a-boo!

Slave to food

With a name like Nugget, I guess I can't really blame my dog for being an absolute slave to food. He's not picky. Any edible kind will do.

I was having peanut butter sandwich for breakfast and Nugget was at my side, as usual. I trooped downstairs to pick up the papers but left my breakfast upstairs. Nugget couldn't decide whether to follow me or stay and "guard" my breakfast. I could literally hear the spokes in his brains turning, trying to process the decision. Poor boy might have killed some brain cells there. He finally gave in and followed me but sprinted right up the stairs once he got the inkling that I was heading back up and plonked himself right back in front of the peanut butter sandwich!

Here's Nugget in his favourite position. Right in front of his food bowl.

Eww Eww Eww Melanoma!

The last few months that I spent in Australia, the government was trying to raise awareness on the dangers of melanoma. One of the ads featured this young asian girl who has been suffering from skin cancer for the last four years. Sadly she passed away last year at the age of 26. When the ad aired on tv, she had already passed on.

I always thought that white people, people with fair skin are more susceptible to melanoma but this girl - she's young, she's asian and she loves the sun. Struck a core in me cuz I see some similarities there with myself. Then I figured that it's probably the Australian sun. We've got a nice healthy ozone layer over Singapore. No worries.

Then yesterday I read an article in the papers about melanoma. Oh boy. It's everywhere now! I think I had a little panic attack. All those times when I went to the beach, went diving, went under the sun without any sunscreen on came back to haunt me. Oh no! Went over every inch of my skin and found TWO new bumps on my shoulders! I always tend to burn my shoulders whenever I'm under the sun. Oh boy oh boy oh boy! That little panic attack soon escalated to a major freakout session.

Bumps. Moles. Pigmented. Melanoma! Oh no!

So I've set up a full medical examination next week and I'm definitely get those two moles on my shoulders examined. Argh!
