With the temperature dropping, I've taken to starting a fire in the fireplace during the nights. I love turning out the lights and just sitting in the glow of the firelight, watching the colors of the flames.
Here's my favourite spot during the nights to stay toasty and warm.
Of course I've had my fair share of mishaps with starting a fire. In the beginning, it took me forever and a day just to get the fire going. I probably went through an entire stack of newspapers. Pfftt. Then I found out that different kinds of wood burn at different rates and some woods burn hotter than others. Now I've gotten pretty good at getting the fire going. Not bad eh? For a sua-ku Singaporean whose idea of an open fire is that from the satay man's open grill!
