Neil Gaiman #1 Fan

As you can see from the title of this post, I'm a huge fan of Neil Gaiman. He weaves these fantastic fairy tales, as far from reality as we know it, and it helps that he has got a really wicked sense of humour. Love love love!

The Sandman comics are what got me hooked in the first place. Growing up as an angst filled teenager, I was quite taken with the character "Death" in his comics and could be seen walking around decked out in black with an ankh hanging around my neck. Next came his adult novels - Neverwhere, Stardust, American Gods, which I read over and over again. And now his novels for kids.

I stumbled upon his website for young readers and discovered to my absolute delight that there were videos of him reading from The Graveyard Book as part of his promotional tour for this book. He read a chapter from the book in each city that he visited. I must say, he reads as well as he writes. I found myself listening to the videos at work and got really caught up in the story when I really should be erm... working. Here's the link: http://www.mousecircus.com/videotour.aspx

I've been swinging by Borders during lunch these couple of days. I see no sense in buying his novels for young readers since they're so thin and it'll just take a couple of hours to zip through them. So I'm reading them during lunch time at Borders. I'm halfway through Coraline. I'm such a miserable cheapskate. Guilty as charged. *sheepish grin*
