Did you know...

... that it is illegal for parents in New Zealand to smack their children for correction or for whatever reason?

It's illegal in 24 countries as of today. Sweden was the first country to take this step over 30 years ago. 10 more countries are possibly making this illegal very soon, among them are Russia and India.

There's a huge opposition around the world against Australia, who recently decided they might make it legal again. Hopefully it won't happen!

It should, of course, never be okay to hit women or children.

Hear hear! I totally agree with what you're saying about violence against women and children.

I think a smack is okay when a little hand is reaching out for a hot stove after being told repeatedly not to do so. It prevents the child from getting hurt. I'm not saying it's okay to physically abuse the child because it's definitely wrong and there are laws in place with regards to this. It's just that it's a fine line between governing the people, and basically running people's lives for them and telling them how to raise their children.
